Osmanthus essential oil is a natural aromatic substance extracted from Osmanthus fragrans. It is believed to have a variety of curative effects in traditional Chinese medicine and aromatherapy, but it should be noted that its effects are mostly based on traditional experience or preliminary research, not all of which have been strictly verified by modern medicine. The following are its main effects and precautions:
1. Main efficacy
- Emotional regulation to relieve stress: Osmanthus has a sweet and warm aroma, which helps relieve anxiety, depression, and elevates mood. It is suitable for aromatherapy or massage. Improve sleep: The mild aroma may help sleep and can be used with lavender essential oil.
- Skin care effect Antioxidant: Contains ingredients such as violet ketone, which may delay skin aging and reduce free radical damage. Moisturizing and brightening: Often used in facial essential oils or skin care products to help improve dryness and dullness (need to be diluted and used). Diluting scars: Some opinions suggest that it can promote skin repair, but the evidence is limited.
- Respiratory system to relieve cough: Traditionally used to reduce phlegm and relieve cough, it can be diluted and applied to the chest or fumigation (avoid direct inhalation to stimulate the respiratory tract).
- Women's health to regulate menstruation: Traditionally believed to relieve dysmenorrhea or menstrual discomfort, it may be related to the effect of promoting blood circulation (use with caution in pregnant women).
- Other potential effects Antibacterial: In vitro experiments have shown an inhibitory effect on certain bacteria, but the clinical effect is not clear. Promote circulation: Massage may help local blood circulation.
